Leslie Cimadevilla, Esquire, and Melissa M. Ocasio, Esquire, founding members of CMO Law Group, LLC, recently celebrated their sixth anniversary as an all-female legal team, handling all aspects of Residential & Commercial Real Estate, Business Law, and Family Law. “There are many challenges, but women business owners are resilient and passionate believers in themselves and what they’re working for -- the overall vision,” said Cimadevilla.

Cimadevilla and Ocasio, both dedicated mothers and vested members in their communities, still manage to maintain and develop a heavy transactional and litigation practice in the South Florida tri-county area. In honor of National Women’s Small Business Month, a time to celebrate the entrepreneurship and accomplishments of women in the small business arena, Cimadevilla and Ocasio share the following three tips to help women in business succeed:

No. 1: Be confident and strong. “It is imperative that women in business be confident and strong, as well as not take their network for granted,” stressed Ocasio. “You are only as good as your team from the top down. You must have a mindset of excellence and constant pursuit of growth and evolution, and that must filter down to your team.”

No. 2: Trust your gut. “Always remember why you started, those who encouraged you, and those who you can use your newfound position to uplift,” added Ocasio. “But most importantly, do not ever doubt yourself,” stressed Cimadevilla.

No. 3: Network, network, network. “Hit the pavement every single day, even if it’s a quick cup of joe with your Realtor,” said Cimadevilla. “You don’t have to be at an evening ‘networker’ to make contacts and generate leads; I have made some of my best connections in lobbies or running errands. Frankly, you are your best billboard; no one can market for your business better than you.”
