Gerling Law Attorney Jesse Poag Commemorates Crystal Anniversary

Gerling Law attorney Jesse Poag, who focuses solely on Social Security disability insurance claims, is celebrating his fifteenth anniversary practicing law. “I enjoy the work because the benefits often completely change the lives of clients,” said Poag, who has handled approximately 3,000 cases. “I have many clients that go from dire circumstances, homelessness, living without electricity, etc. It allows me to help struggling people achieve some dignity and support themselves.”

Poag attended the University of Southern Indiana, and later received his J.D. from the Southern Illinois University. He started his career in a general practice law firm, where he handled a wide variety of cases, then moved on to corporate law, gaining relevant experience in the workings of the corporate arena. However, his passion lies in helping to preserve the legal and financial rights of those unable to work due to disability.

“These are insurance benefits that they have paid for and are being denied through a process which can seem overwhelming,” noted Poag. “I take satisfaction in helping right a wrong that the client otherwise may have given up on.”

Poag is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association, American Bar Association, and National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives. He is also a dedicated athlete, recently completing Ironman Florida, Poag’s third triathlon and first Ironman distance.
