Gerling Law Empowers Women and Ensures Christmas is Bright for YWCA Residents

Since 2006, Gerling Law every year has ensured the residents of the Evansville YWCA have a merry Christmas. “This year we will be providing Christmas for every woman who is in a residential program there, not just those in the Recovery Program — a total of 25 women,” said Gayle Gerling Pettinga, owner and managing attorney of Gerling Law, which, since 2007, has also provided over 7,000 free bicycle helmets to children in need throughout their community with the Great Helmet Giveaway.

This year’s Christmas theme is “Fresh Start,” and Gerling Law will be providing a laundry basket, detergent, laundry sheets, plastic hangers, a towel and a washcloth to each YWCA resident. “We will also be gifting Gerling Law recycle bags and coffee mugs,” added Pettinga.

This year, Gerling Law will also be refreshing and replenishing the toys in the YWCA’s family room. In the past they have also helped paint and refurbish a family room for four, part of the Domestic Violence Residential Program, and helped with the Transitional Housing Program, which houses 24 rooms. Gerling Law also supports the YWCA’s Legacy of Style Show every year by sponsoring tables. Additionally, in 2011, during the Empowered Women Challenge, Gerling Pettinga matched the first 100 women who donated $100.

The attorneys of Gerling Law demonstrate an ongoing commitment to civic duty through the Gerling Law Giving Pledge. Altogether, the firm has supported over 100 charitable, non-profit organizations including the Tri-State Food Bank, Evansville Christian Life Center, and the Evansville African American Museum.
