Attorney Kevin Flesch Educates Parents on How to Keep Kids Safe While Driving

Attorney Kevin Flesch, of Flesch and Beck Law, in honor of Child Passenger Safety Week, lists the top three tips on how parents can keep their kids safe while driving.

DENVER, CO

Personal injury attorney Kevin Flesch, of Flesch and Beck Law, in light of Child Passenger Safety Week, September 18-24, is raising awareness of how parents can keep their children safe while driving. “Car crashes are a leading cause of death for children 1 to 13 years old,” said Flesch. “However, with preventative safety measures and some common sense, the number of traffic-related fatalities can be significantly decreased.”

To help keep kids safe while their parents are behind the wheel, Flesch shares the following three tips:

No. 1: Do not text while driving. “Much like drunk driving and other forms of distracted driving, texting while driving is something many drivers believe they can get away with and poses no danger to others or themselves,” said Flesch. “Of course, this is false. Texting while driving is always dangerous and can be lethal so should be avoided at all times while driving, especially with children in the car.”

No. 2: Properly install car and booster seats. Parents should always ensure car seats and booster seats are properly installed in their vehicles to prevent injuries and deaths amongst their children. If unsure if a child safety seat is properly installed, parents can get a seat inspected at a child car seat inspection station. To find a station, visit http://www.safercar.gov/cpsApp/cps/index.htm.

No. 3: Refrain from drunk driving. “Drunk drivers often inflict devastating injuries on their victims, who are sometimes their own children or those of others,” said Flesch. “There is never any excuse for driving while intoxicated, as you put your life, the lives of your children and the lives of everyone else on the road in danger.”
