Colorado Real Estate Professional Tommy Daly Discusses What to Look for in a Realtor

Colorado Springs RE/MAX Properties Realtor and author Tommy Daly lists the top three tips on how to find the right Realtor when buying or selling a home.

“It is essential that your Realtor has a passion for real estate as well as ethics,” said Daly, author of Wealthy Home Seller Secrets.

To help buyers and sellers choose the right Realtor, Daly lists the following three tips:

No. 1: Talk with the Realtor’s recent clients, and check their reviews. “Choose a Realtor with the right credentials that fit your needs,” stressed Daly. “Check out their current listings and ensure they have knowledge of the area. Also check for license and disciplinary actions. Make sure their license is up to date, and find out how experienced they are. Additionally, look for community leadership -- someone who is proactive in their community shows trust and proper guidance.”

No. 2: Find a full-time Realtor. There are those who work part-time as Realtors and have another full-time job. Flexibility of scheduling will be a problem if this is the case. “You want someone who will be available when you are and who won’t be at their ‘real’ job if problems arise during the transaction,” added Daly.

No. 3: Know how many homes a Realtor has sold in the last year. “Realtors who are selling two to four homes or more per month are on the right track,” concluded Daly. “You want someone who is active and selling properties.”
