Connecticut Nursing Home Apple Rehab Mystic Receives 5-Star Rating from CMS

Connecticut nursing home Apple Rehab Mystic receives a 5-star rating from U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

Mystic, CT

Apple Rehab Mystic receives a five-star rating from CMS.gov, a federal government website managed and paid for by the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. According to the CMS.gov website, “CMS created the Five-Star Quality Rating System to help consumers, their families, and caregivers compare nursing homes more easily and to help identify areas about which you may want to ask questions.”

Each nursing home receives a quality rating of between 1 and 5 stars; 5-star ratings are considered to have “much above average quality,” and 1-star ratings are considered below average.  Besides the one Overall 5-star rating, there are separate ratings for 1) Health Inspections; 2) Staffing; and 3) Quality Measures.

Health Inspections are gathered by trained, objective inspectors who go onsite to the nursing home to determine if a nursing home has met Medicaid and Medicare’s minimum quality requirements. The Staffing rating considers differences in the levels of residents' care need in each nursing home.  Quality Measures (QMs) focuses on 16 different physical and clinical elements for nursing home residents; basically, QMs rate the level of physical and clinical care a nursing home provides their residents.
