Mark Ogborn, of Pinnacle Auto Repair & Tires, an award-winning Philadelphia-based auto repair business, shares three tips to help car owners maintain their car’s battery for optimal performance.
Car battery upkeep and the signs for replacement are often overlooked, and can sometimes leave drivers stranded when they least suspect it. The battery in your car is one of the engine’s most critical elements.
“If your battery isn’t running, neither is your car,” said Mark Ogborn, owner of Pinnacle Auto Repair & Tires, which recently signed up with NAPA AutoCare Center as a partner in a program that provides its customers with discounts and rebates for purchasing certain NAPA parts. “Keep in mind that your battery should not be older than 4 or 5 years.”
In order to keep one’s car battery operating as efficiently as possible, Ogborn lists the following three tips:
No. 1: Check for signs of a dying battery. “If your key fob can no longer open your car’s door, your battery might be dying,” noted Ogborn. “Additional signs include your car starting a little slower, making sure that your battery is not outdated. If any of these things are happening to you, it might be time to replace the battery.”
No. 2: Keep it clean. If the battery is underperforming, it might just need to be cleaned. “Check it for any corrosion or buildup,” advised Ogborn. “It is imperative that you maintain your battery for optimal performance.”
No. 3: Get your car properly diagnosed. When the battery light comes on in a car it does not always mean the battery is deficient. “It could be problems with the charging system, so make sure to take your car in to get checked and properly diagnosed,” concluded Ogborn.
Pinnacle also recently celebrated their 35th anniversary of serving the Rittenhouse Square, Bella Vista and surrounding Philly neighborhoods. They are a family-owned business that offers services ranging from auto repair, tires, brakes, collision repair and much more.
