Realtor Blake O’Shaughnessy Partners with Chalet in Prestigious Polo Club

“The home that once sat at 27 Polo Club had been remodeled and added onto throughout the years, but in such a way that the site was yielding very little green space. The house was just too fragmented and it was clear that the site deserved something better,” said O’Shaughnessy.

To make something truly unique, O’Shaughnessy reached out to his friend and previous business partner, John Mattingly at Chalet, whose primary business is designing site-specific homes for end-user clients. Mattingly’s day-to-day experience with clients, designing homes of a similar size and scale, proved to be a nice a mix for O’Shaughnessy’s ideas for this Polo Club residence.

On a curvilinear lot, Mattingly found a way to organize a new residence that responded to the benefits of the tree-laden corner site, creating a park-like setting for O’Shaughnessy’s vision of a Belgian country house. “Belgian Country Houses have a modern edge to them for their lack of fussy ornamentation,” noted Mattingly.

Working together, O’Shaughnessy and Mattingly designed a house in a series of volumes with clean, stark lines in an Old-World Masonry Composition. The home will be complete with all the modern luxuries homebuyers have come to expect while lending itself to the warmth and tradition of a century-year-old home.
