Stanley Law announces its workers’ compensation-dedicated legal team of Megan Fallon, Sheila Fallon and Arthur Bigsby.
Personal injury law firms don’t always handle workers’ compensation cases, because they are not equipped to represent workers with work-related injury or illness. Megan Fallon, Sheila Fallon, and Arthur Bigsby form the Stanley Law team dedicated solely to workers’ compensation cases.
“This energized and passionate team work diligently to ensure no stone is left unturned,” said senior partner Joe Stanley. “At The Stanley Law Offices, with our main office in Syracuse and additional offices throughout upstate New York and Pennsylvania, we represent injured workers, making sure that they receive workers’ compensation they deserve for medical care and treatment related to a wide range of injuries, including mental health problems and repetitive traumas.”
New York State Workers' Compensation Board (NY WCB), a state agency that processes workers’ claims, defines workers' compensation as “insurance that provides cash benefits and/or medical care for workers who are injured or become ill as a direct result of their job.” Directed by the NY WCB, weekly cash benefits and medical care are paid by the employer's insurance carrier. State law does not allow employers to require an employee to contribute to the cost of the compensation. Stanley explained, “If Board intervention is necessary, it will determine whether that insurer will reimburse for cash benefits and/or medical care, and the amounts payable.”
The workers’ compensation process can be very complicated. By reviewing the Board’s list of Workers' Compensation Forms for Attorneys and Licensed Representatives, the scope of complexity is made apparent by the extensive list of documents that have to be completed. In addition to complicated steps, there are many time-sensitive deadlines that cannot be missed. “Workers’ compensation,” Stanley added, “is detail-oriented work – all the I’s must be dotted, t’s must be crossed. There are important deadlines and paperwork filings that must be adhered to in order to receive full compensation. ”
Compensation can be obtained by filing a workers’ compensation claim, but sometimes, there may be someone else responsible. “The responsible party,” Stanley noted, “may be a manufacturer who created defective machinery, a negligent subcontractor or a vendor who acted recklessly.”
The Stanley Law team has over 90 years of combined experience representing personal injury victims throughout New York state and Pennsylvania. “Regardless of how the injury occurred, though, we can help,” Stanley concluded. “We represent people who’ve been injured on construction sites, in offices, in factories and on the road. It's complex and always changing. It’s truly detailed work. And there’s a high volume of workers’ compensation cases, because most people work.”
