Realtor Margaret Canfield Helping Chicago Residents Transition to Lake Geneva

Margaret Canfield, broker with @properties in Lake Geneva, WI, is expanding into transitional real estate due to being in close proximity to Chicago and its suburbs. “Chicago is and has been the primary feeder market to Lake Geneva, and that started long ago with the Chicago Fire,” said Canfield, a full-time Lake Geneva Realtor. “It is an easy commute and also easily situated between Milwaukee and Chicago. Lake Geneva is not only a solid investment area, but offers a different lifestyle.”

Canfield, in regards to transitional real estate, focuses on homes that may start as a second home but within two years will be full-time residences. “I always meet clients at my office and we lay out an old time map on how they are going to live here and where everything is located in the community, such as medical facilities, shopping, schools, access to airports, etc.,” added Canfield. “Moving here is very different than visiting or doing the weekend trip.”

Chicago residents are looking at Lake Geneva to see what is available in the area they wish to live, and end up exploring communities they did not know existed. The typical client Canfield works with is selling a home in Illinois and most likely trying to downsize, although downsizing without giving up a garage or storage. They are looking for a second home, which may one day turn into their primary residence.

“I grew up in the Chicago area and I am fourth-generation at the lake area,” concluded Canfield. “Because of my past family history and moving up here in 1997, I know where my buyers are moving from and I can identify with their thought process.”
