Summer is rapidly approaching. It is a time for being outside, going to the beach, fishing, camping or just a lazy vacation. But business must go on, and the following three tips will ensure your small business has a successful summer while simultaneously celebrating the season.

No. 1: Take your business outside. This can be achieved by hosting a cookout for your existing and potential clientele. If you can’t make it to a park or the beach, why not use your business’ parking lot? You can still barbecue hamburgers and hot dogs in the great outdoors, and give tours of your office. You can further entice people with a moon bounce for the kids and prizes for all. Don’t be afraid to mix in a little business by demonstrating your products or making a presentation about your services. If you want to get truly creative, take part in a local farmer’s market or fair, which abound in summer. Make sure to also take advantage of summer holidays, such as the 4th of July and Labor Day. You can also team up with other local businesses to host an outdoor event to attract a larger number of potential clients.  

No. 2: Have a summer sale and/or giveaway. People are always on the lookout for summer sales. Again, 4th of July and Labor Day are ideal times for your marketing endeavors, in this case discounts. Go the extra mile and offer summer gift cards, which always brings in more customers and shows off your branding. Giveaways are also always popular. If you can, incorporate a summer theme with your giveaway; for example, giving away useful products for summer activities, such as beach towels or umbrellas, camping chairs, coolers, etc. If cost feasible, give away an iPad or Kindle, which can accompany anyone on any summer trip.

No. 3: Update your website for the summer. This can include a summer theme and/or summer graphics so your site has a seasonal presence. Splash some outdoor photos around your landing page, especially those of your business’ summer BBQ. Finally, don’t forget to promote your summer sales or giveaways on your updated website.
