Owner of Colorado Orthodontics for nearly 20 years, our beloved Dr. Jim received a diagnosis of stage 4 terminal cancer in the spring of 2015, and a few months later realized that he needed to begin the process of finding a replacement. The search was not easy. He knew he needed to find just the right folks to take care of his beloved Colorado Orthodontics and his patients that he cared so deeply about. We’ll let Dr. Jim explain this process in his own words:
"I must say all our candidates were highly qualified and the final choice was difficult. But fortunately, the folks I most wanted to take over agreed to do so. Effective May 1st 2016, ‘All About Braces’ will assume ownership of Colorado Orthodontics. I feel lucky to have found All About Braces. All About Braces already is a well-established and well-known practice in the orthodontic community. They have been voted best orthodontist for five years straight in 5280; they were also chosen as the number-one orthodontist by Colorado Parent Magazine, and The Colorado Community Newspapers voted them the Best of the Best. Most importantly, they are a family-owned and run business who, like me, try to treat EVERY patient as if they too were family. I had known Dr. Baskin, Dr. Mershon (who started as a chairside assistant to Dr. Baskin; I love that story!), and Owen the office manager (and Dr. Baskin’s brother) for years. Quite honestly, I had hoped they would have an interest in taking over my practice. Fortunately they did, and not only agreed to keeping my staff, but insisted on it! You will see why we saw each other as a perfect fit. I have confidence that our teams will make for a smooth transition for all involved.

Sadly, Dr. Jim passed just 1 month after the transition of the business. He was overjoyed, however, that he was able to leave his baby and his legacy in such good hands and expressed this to us before his passing. We are thrilled and honored that his daughter KJ remains a part of our team. As Dr. Jim noted, we are STILL conveniently located in Arvada, Aurora, and Thornton, CO, and our professional, friendly staff (yes, you will still see all of our friendly, familiar faces!) are dedicated to providing you the highest quality of treatment in a pleasant, comfortable environment.
