Northern California attorney Teresa Li wins a substantial amount for a client in a case where she was hit by a car while crossing the street when the “walk” signal was lit.
Personal injury attorney Teresa Li, founder of the Law Offices of Teresa Li, PC, recently won $2.5 million in a case, the insurance policy limit, on behalf of a client (plaintiff) who was struck by a motor vehicle while walking in a crosswalk. The case was filed in Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara, Case No. 18 CV321503. As her client, who suffered emotional distress due to the accident, did not speak English, Li was able to take the case because she is bilingual (Chinese and English).
According to court documents, the plaintiff was crossing Highway 280 with the pedestrian “walk” signal on when the defendant, who was trying to turn right, hit her. The defendant was cited by the police for violation of Vehicle Code Section 21950(a) for failure to yield to pedestrians.
Court documents further state that because of the accident, the plaintiff sustained permanent loss of smell and traumatic brain injury, as well as psychological and emotional injuries. Court documents also state that she has not been able to work since the accident.
