Coldwell Banker Realtor, Jim Newcomb, Commemorates 35 Years in Scouting

Jim Newcomb, broker associate at Coldwell Banker Sky Ridge Realty, is celebrating his thirty-fifth anniversary with the Boy Scouts of America. “Giving back to the community, and making a difference in the lives of our youth is very important to me,” said Newcomb, who spent eleven years as a Scout and twenty-four as an adult leader.

Newcomb also recently received, for the second time, the Arrowhead Honor for the work with the Boy Scout and Cub Scout units on the mountain. Newcomb has always done his best to live up to the Scout Oath in his everyday life. The Scout Oath states, “On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.”

“My Scoutmaster challenged me to give back to Scouting what I got out of it,” noted Newcomb. “My current position with the Scouts is Assistant District Commissioner. I oversee the entire program on the mountain. I have been a Scoutmaster, District Commissioner, Unit Commissioner, Order of the Arrow Advisor, Merit Badge Counselor, Eagle Scout, Vigil Honor and Silver Beaver Recipient.”

Newcomb works with three Boy Scout Troops and one Cub Scout Pack. He is currently working to develop two more Cub Scout Packs on the mountain. In addition, he is active as an Eagle Scout that does an annual drive in November for the local food bank, Operation Provider. “My Scout Troop started the food drive back in 2001, and now the entire Boy Scout Council is following our lead”, said Newcomb.

Newcomb has more than thirty years of sales, marketing, and negotiating experience, and is a licensed real estate broker. He completed training at Loan Officer School in 2006, and has experience as a mortgage consultant. He has experience with probate sales, short sales and foreclosures, and has conducted training courses on these “special situation” transactions for agents at Coldwell Banker. He specializes in lakefront estates to small mountain cabins, and treats all his clients the way they would expect an Eagle Scout to do.
