Denver Realtor Barry Overton and Colten Mortgage Honor Local Police

National Police Week takes place from May 12-18. In honor of this week, Overton and the Overton Hero Program, along with Colten Mortgage, will be serving lunch at six local police stations to men and women in blue. “Being a police officer is one of those professions that can often be a thankless job. It is important to me to show the men and women of law enforcement that they are appreciated,” said Overton, a retired Denver police officer and Gulf War veteran.

The Overton Hero Program gives back to all heroes, including all first responders, teachers, coaches, medical professionals and all military personnel. When one of these heroes hires Overton as their Realtor, he gives them a rebate and continues his crusade to donate to organizations that aid heroes. Upon closing the hero receives a 15% rebate of Overton’s real estate commission, paid in closing costs.

“Last year $25,952 in rebates went back to heroes,” added Overton, who has 18 years of experience in real estate. “My goal in 2018 was $10,000, which I hit by July. The goal for this year is $50,000.”

Furthermore, Colten Mortgage has partnered with the Overton Hero Program and provided $3,300 in sponsorship funds to help cover food costs and more during National Police Week. Colten has also created a hero program of its own, Colten Cares, which offers $1,000 with closing costs. “When a hero uses me as their Realtor they get a 15% rebate of my commission and another $1,000 from Colten, so in most cases their entire closing cost is covered,” noted Overton.

In addition to the rebate, the other aspect of the Overton Hero Program is giving back to a non-profit organization that assists these heroes. “We donate to the Denver Police Foundation, Shield 616, Adsit Strong Foundation and others,” concluded Overton, who sits on the Denver African American Commission, connecting and building relationships between the community and police.
