Denver Realtor Ryan Dillon Teaches Transplants to Live Like Locals

Approximately 40 people move to Denver each day because of job growth, close proximity to outdoor activities, 300 days of sunshine a year, and so much more with many different neighborhoods offering something for everyone. “People can be their own local here,” said Madison & Company Properties broker associate Ryan Dillon, a Denver native, whose office sits in the heart of Washington Park.

Washington Park in south central Denver, aka “Wash Park,” has an excellent transportation network that links to the rest of the city, as well as a wealth of bars, restaurants and stores that make it one of the most lively neighborhoods in Denver. “It’s very popular both as a place to live and an area to dine or relax,” added Dillon. “The park itself provides some relief from the city, offering residents and visitors a place to relax in the open air, as well as some welcomed greenery in the cityscape. Historic Pearl Street offers one of the city’s most sprawling farmers market’s allowing a plethora of samples from local vendors, as well as locally made products for purchase.”

Some of the area’s best eateries include the high-end restaurants Bittersweet, Carmine’s and Wash Park Grille, as well as more casual fare at Bonnie Brae Tavern and Hanson’s. Wine aficionados will want to check out La Cour Bistro & Art Bar and Village Cork, while those who prefer a more casual drinking atmosphere or dive bars have a plethora of options, including Campus Lounge, Kentucky Inn, Stadium Inn, Candlelight Tavern and Dougherty’s Pub. “Coffee lovers will want to hit Wash Perk,” noted Dillon. “Furthermore, with Denver’s climate and altitude, newbies need to remember to drink twice as much water than they are used to and half the alcohol as the effects are stronger,” concluded Dillon.

As for schools, Steele Elementary and Cory Elementary are near Washington Park, and South High School, Dillon’s alma mater, and Denver School of the Arts.
