Bankruptcy is more than just a court filing. It is a process that involves strategic considerations before, during and after the filing takes place.

Following bankruptcy, one’s credit report may still reflect old debts that have been eliminated. The credit repair process involves disputing inaccurate or out-of-date information to clean up the credit report.

Those who file bankruptcy are wise to pursue credit repair after the bankruptcy is completed,” concluded Patton. “Otherwise, your credit may suffer far longer than necessary, which in turn can slow your progress in rebuilding financial stability.”
