Dallas Realtor Laurie Steenis Impacting Two Continents through Amazon Outreach and Keller Williams Realty

Amazon Outreach, a non-profit interdenominational Christian mission organization, has announced their eight-day mission that ventures to the villages of the Amazon rainforest, Brazil. Beginning June 20th, Dallas-based Laurie Steenis will join a passionate group of individuals from the Dallas area and their Brazilian team and translators out of the North-Central Brazil city of Manaus to help with basic needs such as medical, dental, eye care, clean water, construction and more. With a core purpose of service and spreading the gospel to underserved villages, this Amazon Outreach group will also raise awareness through evangelism, worship, and biblical teachings of how faith can help a community grow stronger.

Steenis has had the privilege of serving on mission teams on multiple continents, since her first mission to Haiti in 2000, but has a special love for Brazil. This June trip marks her 18th mission trip to Brazil and is a historic trip for Amazon Outreach, as it is the first year that a grand chief who oversees 50+ tribal villages will allow Amazon Outreach to minister to the people in his villages. This chief has opened the doors for Amazon Outreach and their partner churches in Brazil. The hope is to make a huge impact by helping with their basic physical, medical, and dental needs, while bringing Christ’s love and spiritual encouragement through the gospel. Since being founded, Amazon Outreach has partnered with indigenous churches in Brazil that are seeking unreached people in these 30,000 villages.

Although Steenis is a successful Dallas-based Realtor with Keller Williams, her passion and overall purpose is rooted in living out her Christian faith, in giving her time to charitable causes, and serving in her community first locally, as well as nationally and globally. “As a ‘missionary disguised as a Realtor,’ God gives me opportunities daily to serve Him by serving those He puts in my path in the local marketplace, as well as those He leads me to around the world.
