Hail King & Dent King Dispels Misconceptions About Hail Damage Pertaining to Car Repair

According to 9News.com, hail in Colorado is worse than other parts of the United States. This is due in no small part to the state’s high elevation. In fact, Colorado is part of what’s known as “Hail Alley.”

“Hail can cause serious damage to your car, including broken glass and dents in the roof,” said Emerson, owner of Hail King & Dent King, which works with all insurance companies. “Unfortunately, many car owners don’t know how this will affect their insurance.”

To educate car owners about hail damage auto repair, Emerson dispels the following three misconceptions:

No. 1: A hail claim will raise my insurance rates. “Insurance companies cannot single you out directly for making a comprehensive claim from a hail storm,” stressed Emerson. “Collectively, they raise insurance rates of everybody in their zoning to help cover the cost.”

No. 2: I have to settle for my insurance company’s preferred body shop. This is also not true. “You have your rights by insurance laws to take your car to any repair shop you feel worthy of fixing your car,” noted Emerson. “The insurance company wants you to go to their shop because they do it cheaply and their way; it saves the insurance company tons of money, but you are not getting any benefit out of it.”

No. 3: Only your dealer is capable of properly repairing your car. “You are saving a factory finish,” concluded Emerson. “If you take it to the dealer they are more than likely to put the info on Carfax, and that could hurt you when it comes to selling your car.”
