Denver Realtor Sarah Clark, of Kentwood City Properties, shares the top four tips for throwing a festive fall party at home.
“As a Realtor, building good personal relationships is important, and nothing is more personal than hosting people in your home for a festive get together,” said Clark, a jack of all trades who knows all about finding clients the perfect home, and also knows how to host a good event. “Fall is a great time to welcome people into your home. The following are a few tricks I recommend you think about incorporating to make sure your fall party is a success.”
No. 1: Bob for apples or make caramel apples. Bobbing for apples is always a hilarious time. That said, bobbing isn’t for everyone, so you can make caramel apples and have a lot of unique toppings. “Slice the apples up and put them on sticks and let people make theirs the way they want,” advised Clark, who was recently featured in atHomemagazine.
No. 2: Have an awesome photo booth. “It's costume season and people love to have fun photos to post on social media so have fun with different props and items. And when in doubt, throw in some gourds or pumpkins. If people can’t figure out how to incorporate those into a good photo, we have a problem,” jokes Clark.
No. 3: Make spiced wine in the crockpot. It’s a great time to be outside, so heat up the wine in your crockpot and add some spices like cardamom, clove, cinnamon and orange (to name a few) to make it taste more like fall. Also, have a fire pit going, and pair that with some lawn games. “Can jam, bocce, croquet, corn hole, spike ball, whatever your game might be -- these are all games that work and really help people that don’t know each other engage with one another,” added Clark.
No. 4: Pick an ingredient and have everyone bring a dish that has to incorporate that ingredient. This is good for all walks -- friends, family, clients, or even kids. “This is also a good time for a chili cook off if you’re not keen on the picking one ingredient concept,” stated Clark. “There are so many easy things to do!”
“The fall season brings cooler weather, sweaters, and bonfires, which always makes me want to hunker down at my house. So, this is definitely the perfect time of year for a party at your home. The weather is ideal for having people indoors or outdoors, it's football season, hockey is getting started, and the food is amazing,” concluded Clark. “For people that don’t host often or are intimidated by the process of hosting, you can’t go wrong hosting a fall party at your home.”
